Medical test is a mandatory requirement for the UAE residency visa. To ensure a foreign national is medically fit and free of contagious diseases, one must provide proof in the form of medical reports from medical examination centres in the UAE.

For the UAE to grant or renew a residence visa for all expatriates, one has to undergo and pass medical fitness tests at government approved health centres in the country. This is also applicable when applying for a visit visa or tourist visa.

In case a person fails any test or is found medically unfit, the country will not grant a residency visa. The person will be deported immediately by the United Arab Emirates’ authorities back to their home country.

Documents required for the medical test

To apply for the medical test, one must submit the following documents to the center. These include a valid passport copy, valid residency permits or visa copy, two passport size photos with white background, and a valid Emirates ID copy.

The type of medical tests depends upon the job and area of expertise. The reason for these tests is to ensure the resident is fit to do their job or does not carry any communicable diseases that may spread to others.

How long does a medical test take?

A normal test result takes about 48 hours to be ready, urgent test is in 24 hours, and VIP test is 4-5 hours.
